Masuria is a beautiful and extremely rich land that has been tempting tourists and sailors for years to relax right here on the Great Lakes. And although for many of us, Masuria is a unified land, in fact the Masurian Lake District consists of several slightly smaller and less known as separate units with tourist lake districts. One of them is the Giżyckie Lake District, known for such lakes as the famous Śniardwy and Mamry, with excellent sailing conditions and the longest water route leading through northern Poland. It is also beautiful landscapes that are protected in the Masurian Landscape Park. It is worth noting that thanks to all these attractions, the Giżycko Lake District is considered the heart of Masuria. Despite the presence of large lakes in this area and the canals that connect them with each other and at the same time allow sailing boats in the Giżycko Lakeland, the river network is quite scarce. The Giżycko Lakeland itself is also such important Masurian tourist resorts as Giżycko and Mikołajki. In these places waiting for travelers a lot of interesting monuments, including the most important - Boyen fortress in Giżycko. It is also worth visiting here such places as Ryn, where the Teutonic castle is located, and Popielno, known for breeding Polish pony.
