The lake landscape is dominated by hills and lakes. There is no shortage of forests here, among which forests prevail. The Ełk Lakeland is a very attractive place for nature lovers. Several reserves protect the parts of the lake district that are the most valuable in terms of nature. Most of the reserves (such as "Boski" or "Lipowy Jar" are forest reserves, but there are also those that are intended to protect animals. The Borecka Forest is one of the most valuable forest areas in Masuria and certainly the most valuable in the Ełk Lake District.
