Wild Animals Park

20.12.2016 The park was founded by dr Andrzej Krzywiński. It covers an area of 100 ha and is located in the Piska Forest (in the Masurian Landscape Park, on the route between the towns of Ruciane-Nida and Mikołajki). Its purpose is to preserve extinct animal species and enable visitors to learn about native species. The park's patron is the well-known naturalist Benedykt Dybowski. Due to the fact that he was exiled to Siberia in the past and contributed to the knowledge of this part of the world, in the park you can meet Siberian animals and those from the Far East. The main attractions include close contact with nature. You can see many animal species here, which are usually very hard to find in the wild. Some can be approached very closely, and even fed or stroked (animals are used to human presence). Extensive meadows give animals the opportunity to live and function in very close to natural conditions. The fact that they feel good here is evidenced by the fact that they reproduce cyclically. The park features, among others, fallow deer, Scandinavian wolves, tarpans, elks, Polish horses, wild boars, deer and roe deer, lynxes, eagle owls, black grouse, capercaillies, hazel grouse, cranes, beavers, bison. Currently, works related to reintroduction and protection of endangered species (e.g. forest grouse) are underway. Particular emphasis is placed on helping lynxes. Only 200 of them live in Poland (mainly in the Bieszczady Mountains). A special "Born to be free" method was developed here, which means that aviaries were built in the middle of the forest, where adults were placed. Thanks to this, young are born in peace and quiet, they are not exposed to danger. The construction of the aviary allows young people to leave the room at any time, but at the same time prevents the escape of adult lynx. The reintroduction program carried out in cooperation with the State Forests and the Masurian National Park effectively protects endangered species. The park is available to visitors all year round, from 9:00 to dusk. Sightseeing is only possible with a guide (due to the large area of the Kadzidłowo park). Thanks to this, you can learn more about the animals found here, their biology, habits and needs. It is worth going here with children, because the trip provides many experiences that will certainly stay in their memory for a long time. A walk surrounded by such beautiful nature gives a feeling of relaxation and rest.
