Lidzbark Warmiński was the capital of Warmia and its largest city from 1350 to the 19th century. This city was the center of faith and culture in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, often called the Pearl of Warmia. For a long time it was under the rule of the Warmian bishops.
